Part of an elementary school in Santa Ana was evacuated as police negotiated with an armed robbery suspect on the campus’s driveway Tuesday, March 8. The man parked in a vehicle surrounded by officers at Lowell Elementary School is a suspect in several robberies that took place earlier that day, Santa Ana Police Commander Julian Rodriguez said. It ended on the west driveway of the campus at 700 S. Flower Street, Rodriguez said. Footage posted to Twitter and recorded from inside a vehicle facing the standoff in the driveway showed police with rifles running toward an SUV that was stopped in front of a closed gate.
