(Tiranjini Pillai / Daily Titan) Google searching “how to de-stress” or  “how to prioritize self-care” has flooded college students’ minds as there is no escape from capitalism’s reign over students’ social and academic lives. However, college students and those in the workforce who equally share a workload do not acknowledge the importance of mental health or prioritizing self-care. Although these issues are not visible on the surface, the working class and students face the blows of capitalism until it accumulates into burnout and other mental health issues that arise from accepting capitalism’s presence. Like many first-generation college students who may struggle alone with a school to work life balance, learning how to prioritize mental health is another issue on its own.
