The Fullerton City Council voted, 4-1, to approve additional funding for the Illumination Foundation, a nonprofit organization that operates homeless shelters in Fullerton on March 1. This amendment is an extension to a previous agreement with the Illumination Foundation, which offers rent assistance, medical supplies and social work to homeless individuals in Orange County. California recently granted Fullerton $4 million to assist with the city’s Navigation Center, which is operated by the Illumination Foundation. To lower the cost to fund the foundation's services, the city is currently seeking to purchase the building in which the foundation operates, which stands on 3535 Commonwealth Ave. The building is currently owned by a third party that charges the city over $543,000 to use each month, the Fullerton Observer reported.
