Additionally, commuter students often feel disconnected from their university's academic system and have limited interactions with faculty. In an October message to students from Carolyn Thomas, the provost and vice president for student affairs, it was stated that as for this spring semester, only 20% of courses are offered either online or hybrid, meaning 80% are in person. On top of offering more online classes, professors should screencast their in-person classes over Zoom to give more options for commuter students, or record their lectures for future reference. The integration of more online courses for commuter students that struggle to maintain a high GPA would be critical for their educational achievement.
