The Palisades Forestry Committee took to Hartzell Street on Thursday, March 24, to plant 10 trees as part of “100 Trees for 100 Years,” an effort to commemorate Pacific Palisades’ centennial. PFC Chair Cindy Kirven said the team worked with City Plants—a program supported by the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power—to acquire the trees, and volunteers of the LA Conservation Corps to have them planted on Hartzell parkways. “The Mondell pine was chosen to be consistent with the shape and impact that the existing eucalyptus trees have,” Kirven explained. Other Palisades area city and state parks are also possible sites for new trees.”
